Club De Fútbol Monterrey
Monterrey is the only team in Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League history to lift the trophy three times. In fact, the Rayados (2010/11-2012/13) and Cruz Azul (1969-71) are the only sides to win three straight CONCACAF club titles. Nearly unbeatable at its former home – the Estadio Tecnologico – in the Champions League (14W-2D-1L), Monterrey now plays at the state-of-the-art Estadio BBVA Bancomer. The current squad is led by a trio of players who each scored a team-best seven goals during the 2016 Liga MX Closing season: Rogelio Funes Mori, Dorlan Pabon and Carlos Sanchez. Forward Aldo de Nigris is sixth on the Champions League all-time scoring table with 14 goals, netting in each of Monterrey’s championship-winning campaigns. The four-time Mexican champion has the third-most wins in Champions League history (25 wins/34 games), trailing only Cruz Azul (32/54) and Santos (29/52). The now-retired Humberto Suazo is Monterrey’s all-time leading scorer in the Champions League with 16 goals. He is the only player to score in three different editions of the final.
