LEICESTER, England – Leicester City advanced to the 2016/17 UEFA Champions League quarterfinals thanks to a 2-0 win over visiting Sevilla on Tuesday at King Power Stadium.

The Foxes captured the two-legged Round of 16 series 3-2 on aggregate, overcoming a 2-1 away loss on February 22.

Jamaica international Wes Morgan proved to be one of the evening’s heroes, when his 27th-minute goal gave Leicester City a 1-0 lead. The 33-year-old defender and captain struck with his right knee from four-yards out after Riyad Mahrez’s left-sided free kick sailed over numerous heads in the Sevilla box.

With the goal, Morgan became the first Jamaican to score in the competition’s history.

Marc Albrighton netted the game-winner in the 54th minute, but goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel’s save of a Steven N'Zonzi penalty kick with 10 minutes remaining in normal time secured Leicester City’s seat at the quarterfinal draw on Friday.

Morgan was quoted on UEFA.com as saying: “We've got a fantastic team and fantastic supporters and with all those things together anything is possible and we're through to the quarter-finals now. We'll see how far we can go – nobody thought we could win the Premier League last season and we did that and I am sure nobody thought we could get through to the last 16 never mind the quarter-finals of the Champions League. We keep proving people wrong and we'll see how far we can go."
